SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. — Hero Nutritionals has expanded its Yummi Bears children’s gummy vitamin line with two sugar-free vitamins.

The company said Wednesday that the new products, Yummi Bears Sugar Free Multi-Vitamin & Mineral and Yummi Bears Sugar Free Vitamin D3, are now available at such retailers as CVS, Safeway, Raley’s, Whole Foods Markets, Vitamin Shoppe, and other food/drug and health food stores.

Formulated for well-balanced nutrition, Yummi Bears Sugar Free Multi-Vitamin & Mineral, which retails for $19.99, is the first and only sugarless gummy vitamin with 16 key vitamins, minerals and nutrients, according to Hero Nutritionals. The product provides children with a full spectrum of essential vitamins, including antioxidants vitamins A, C and E plus B-complex and important minerals for overall health.

The company said Yummi Bears Sugar Free Vitamin D3, priced at $16.99, is the first and only sugar-free gummy vitamin with 1,000 IU of easily absorbed vitamin D3 per serving. The vitamin is formulated to support healthy immunity as well as calcium absorption to build healthy bones and teeth.

Bottles of both Yummi Bears Sugar Free varieties contain a 30-day supply.

"We understand there are children who, for health and other reasons, must limit dietary intake of sugar. We are thrilled to introduce the Sugar Free Yummi Bears line, which was specifically formulated for these children," commented Jennifer Hodges, chief executive officer of Hero Nutritionals. "The Hero family continues to expand the Yummi Bear product line to continually meet and exceed consumers’ desire for innovative and delicious options for getting the vitamins, minerals and nutrients they deserve."

Yummi Bears® Sugar Free vitamins are allergen-, gluten- and dairy-free and use lo han fruit, which is three times as sweet as sugar, for a natural sweetener that doesn’t cause spikes in blood sugar or promote tooth decay, the company noted.

"Overall, the gummy vitamin category is up by 19% year over year, with the new sugar-free trend emerging. The introduction of the first, all-natural, allergen-free, non-GMO Yummi Bear is leading the innovation curve towards new and improved offerings in this category," stated Claire Polson, national sales and marketing manager at Hero Nutritionals. "Additionally, the supplement alternative sweetener category grew by 10%, with the children’s multivitamin category driving it at 23% growth as compared to 2011."
