CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold USA has named Raymond McCall senior vice president of pharmacy and health and beauty care.
The food and drug retailer, the U.S. arm of Netherlands-based supermarket operator Ahold, said Wednesday that McCall will be responsible for the strategic leadership, direction and business plan design and execution for the pharmacy and health-and-beauty care teams across Ahold USA, which includes the Stop & Shop, Giant and Giant Food Stores chains.
McCall comes to Ahold USA from Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons LLC, where he served as vice president of pharmacy operations for the chain’s more than 200 pharmacies.
The industry veteran brings over 21 years of retail experience to Ahold USA, where he will be based at the company’s Carlisle, Pa., office.
Before Albertsons, McCall was a district pharmacy manager for CVS/pharmacy. He also has also held other pharmacy posts at Owen Healthcare, Albertsons and Kmart.
Ahold USA supports four regional divisions — Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle — that together operate 750 supermarkets in 13 states and the District of Columbia, along with the online grocery service Peapod.
Last year, Ahold USA was the nation’s 14th-largest retail pharmacy operator by Rx dollar volume (estimated at $2.04 billion) and the 15th-largest by pharmacy count (551), according to Chain Drug Review‘s 2010 Annual Report of Retail Pharmacy.
