Amazon ignites Fourth of July savings for Prime Members

Prime members can save $0.50 per gallon on fuel during the Fourth of July weekend, plus savings on barbecue grocery items.

SEATTLE — Amazon is introducing a range of Fourth of July promotions for Prime members, including enhanced fuel discounts, grocery savings and special benefits for Prime Access members.

The company announced that Prime, Prime Access and Prime for Young Adults members will receive $0.50 off per gallon on one fuel purchase from July 2-5 at more than 7,500 bp, Amoco, participating ampm and Thorntons locations nationwide. The offer builds on the everyday fuel discount of $0.10 per gallon available to Prime members through Amazon’s partnership with bp’s earnify loyalty program.

“Summer is a time for making memories, and Prime is here to make entertaining more affordable,” said Carmen Nestares, vice president of North America Prime and Marketing Tech. “Prime delivers unmatched savings every day, and this July 4 holiday we’re excited to offer fuel savings, low grocery prices and additional support for Prime Access families.”

Amazon is also highlighting grocery savings for holiday gatherings. Prime members in eligible areas can receive free Same-Day Delivery on grocery orders of more than $25, with service available in more than 2,300 cities and towns. The offering includes fresh groceries, household essentials, electronics and other everyday items.

To support Independence Day celebrations, Amazon is promoting a variety of barbecue essentials at discounted prices. Featured items include party-size snacks, prepared side dishes, frozen desserts, fresh produce and grilling meats, with many items priced below $10 and complete meal options available for less than $20.

Whole Foods Market is also participating in the promotion. From July 1 through July 7, Prime members can receive 50% off select ice cream and frozen treat brands, including Van Leeuwen, So Delicious and Jeni’s.

In addition, Amazon is expanding benefits for Prime Access members, which offers discounted Prime memberships to eligible government assistance recipients and income-qualified customers. From July through September, Prime Access members will automatically receive a $5 monthly credit on eligible grocery orders of $25 or more, providing up to $15 in savings over the summer.

The credits can be applied to a range of grocery staples and household essentials sold on Amazon.com. Prime Access members can also use SNAP benefits on eligible items available through Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market where available, including benefits provided through the federal Summer EBT program.

According to Amazon, the new promotions are designed to help customers save on travel, food and everyday essentials throughout the summer season.
