WASHINGTON — AmerisourceBergen Corp. closed out its ThinkLive 2014 manufacturers conference with an awards ceremony honoring key partners.
The pharmaceutical distributor said that at Tuesday evening’s dinner and awards reception it presented Manufacturer Excellence Awards to three companies: Proctor & Gamble (for the consumer category), Zydus (for generic drugs) and Bayer (for branded medications).
Receiving Trade Relations Leadership Awards were Carrie Wetzel of Allergan (brand), Dave Hardin of Amneal (generic) and Chris Gallagher of Nipro (consumer).
Gilead Sciences was presented with the Best Product Launch Award for Sovaldi, widely considered as a breakthrough treatment for hepatitis C. Angela Nitka of AstraZeneca received the Excellence in Product Proposition Award, while the Commitment to Patient Care Award went to Angela Willis of Amgen.
This year, AmerisourceBergen added a new award in order to recognize a customer making a positive impact on health care delivery. Burmans, a leading independent pharmacy, was presented with the Shaping Healthcare Delivery Award for enhancing access to treatment for hepatitis C patients through an innovative partnership with AmerisourceBergen.
"At Burmans, everything we do starts with putting patients first and ensuring they have the best possible outcomes," stated Steve Burman, president and chief executive officer of Burmans, which is a member of the Compliant Pharmacy Alliance Cooperative, a buying group representing independent pharmacies. "AmerisourceBergen has been a critical partner in helping us in this effort by extending their flexibility, responsiveness and high-level service. We’re proud to work with them and beyond honored to be their first Shaping Healthcare Delivery award winner."
More than 500 global pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device and diagnostics manufacturers attended the two-day ThinkLive conference in Washington, D.C., which provided a forum to interact with AmerisourceBergen executives and hear from experts on key industry trends and issues.
"We believe that partnerships are key to shaping health care delivery," according to Peyton Howell, president of global sourcing and manufacturer relations at AmerisourceBergen. "ThinkLive creates a unique platform where we can work one-on-one with manufacturers to help them maximize the commercial success of their products and, ultimately, enhance patient outcomes."
Besides Howell, ThinkLive presentations and discussions were led by AmerisourceBergen thought leaders including Steve Collis, president and CEO; James Frary, president of AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group; Larry Marsh, senior vice president and chief strategy officer; Tim Guttman, senior vice president and chief financial officer; and Dave Neu, president of AmerisourceBergen Drug Co.
