VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — AmerisourceBergen Corp. president and chief operating officer Steven Collis, who is slated to take the reins as chief executive officer this summer, has been elected to the company’s board.
The health care products and pharmaceutical distributor said Thursday that Collis joins the board effective immediately and will serve as a member of the executive and finance committee.
In March, AmerisourceBergen named the 49-year-old Collis to succeed R. David Yost, 63, as CEO when Yost retires from the company on July 1.
Collis, a 17-year company veteran, is currently responsible for all AmerisourceBergen business units, including AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp. (ABDC), AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group (ABSG), AmerisourceBergen Consulting Services (ABCS) and AmerisourceBergen Packaging Group (ABPG). Before being promoted to president and COO in November 2010, Collis was executive vice president for AmerisourceBergen and president of ABDC, the company’s largest subsidiary with revenue of more than $60 billion.
The AmerisourceBergen board now has 10 members, and Yost will retire from the board when he retires from the company in July, according to the distributor.
