Shoppers Drug Mart CEO plans to resign

Jürgen Schreiber, president and chief executive officer of Shoppers Drug Mart Corp., is slated to resign next month, and the company has begun a search for his replacement. Shoppers Drug Mart said Thursday that plans call for Schreiber, who’s also a board director, to leave the company on Feb. 15.

Rite Aid turns in another same-store sales gain

Same-store sales rose for the second straight month in January at Rite Aid Corp. The drug store chain said Thursday that for the four weeks ended Jan. 22, comparable-store sales increased 1.1% from a year earlier, building on a 0.6% same-store sales gain in December.
