WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy has added a new photo service to its CVS Mobile application that enables customers to print photos from their smartphone camera or CVSphoto.com account for same-day pickup at any CVS drug store.
The drug chain said Wednesday that the new mobile app photo feature puts smartphone users "a few taps away from printing images anywhere, anytime."
Same-day pickup of photo prints ordered via the new service carries no additional cost, and customers can use the CVS Mobile app’s built-in GPS locator to find the closest CVS/pharmacy location.
In addition, through Aug. 31, customers can get 10-cent photo prints by ordering right from their smartphones with guaranteed same-day pickup at their local CVS/pharmacy.
Other photo service benefits provided by the free CVS/pharmacy mobile app, which can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, include the ability to order 4×6, 5×7 and 8×10 prints from their smartphone or CVSphoto.com account for same-day store pickup; access to special photo offers and promotions; and the ability to upload images from their smartphone to their CVSphoto.com account to create photo products such as cards, photo books, calendars and canvas prints.
CVS noted that with almost 30% of photos now being taken on smartphones, the new photo printing service available via its mobile app meets rising demand from consumers looking to preserve and share images stored on their mobile devices.
"In recent months, we’ve significantly expanded our mobile capabilities through our new, enhanced apps and upgraded technologies, as well as the relaunched CVS.com website, which adds a new level of personalization for each of our customers," Rob Price, senior vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer for CVS/pharmacy, said in a statement. "We believe our commitment to innovation within the mobile space and this latest offering will inspire customers to capture more memories and help people preserve them from wherever they are and at any time."
