CVS/pharmacy has added new food and beverage items to its private-brand Gold Emblem line, including the launch of the Gold Emblem Select premium label. The drug chain said Wednesday that the new Gold Emblem Select brand uses premium ingredients, artisanal techniques and distinctive flavors.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy has added new food and beverage items to its private-brand Gold Emblem line, including the launch of the Gold Emblem Select premium label.

The drug chain said Wednesday that the new Gold Emblem Select brand uses premium ingredients, artisanal techniques and distinctive flavors. The first offering under the label is Gold Emblem Select premium ground coffee, which uses globally sourced, 100% Arabica raw coffee beans.

The Gold Emblem Select coffee, now available chainwide, comes in French Roast (dark and aromatic), Donut Shop (light and smooth) and Toasted Hazelnut (vibrant and rich) blends. Customers can purchase the coffee in bags or in packages with two single-serve coffee pods compatible for use in Keurig and other single-serve coffee makers.

New snack offerings for the Gold Emblem line include Gold Emblem Snack Bars, all of which have whole grains and come in such varieties as the Strawberry Breakfast Bar, Blueberry Greek Yogurt Bar (with real blueberries), Classic Trail Mix Bar and Chewy Chocolate Chip Bar; Gold Emblem Dark Chocolate Covered Real Fruit, including blueberries and pomegranate varieties; Gold Emblem Mixed Nuts, with such varieties as Salt & Pepper Pistachio, Habenero BBQ Almonds, Honey Dijon Almonds, Unsalted Mixed Nuts, Berries & Cherries Nut Clusters and Almond Nut Clusters; and Gold Emblem Caramel Crunch & Gold Emblem Ranch Flavored Pretzel Pieces.

On the beverage side, CVS has introduced Gold Emblem Sparkling Fruit Burst Water, which comes in single-serve, 17-ounce bottles and in black raspberry, orange mango, pink grapefruit and lemon lime flavors, as well as Gold Emblem Black Tea.

According to CVS, almost all of the new items are less than $5, and customers are urged to use their ExtraCare card when buying Gold Emblem products in order to get savings and personalized rewards.

"At CVS/pharmacy, we are committed to meeting our customers’ needs, and that includes continuing to innovate with our exclusive brands to offer new, high-quality, affordable products we know they’ll love," George Coleman, vice president of merchandising for store brands and quality assurance at CVS/pharmacy, said in a statement. "The new additions to Gold Emblem, including the introduction of Gold Emblem Select, deliver on that promise with delicious flavors and quality ingredients."

CVS had relaunched the Gold Emblem private label in late February, including new items, a package redesign with a more contemporary logo, and improved taste.

Gold Emblem products feature a 100% money-back guarantee and are evaluated using a rigorous taste-testing process before they’re introduced. The products also list key nutritional information on the front of each item’s packaging to help shoppers make well-informed choices, CVS said.
