GoodRx launches employer direct weight loss offering

New program gives employers flexible access to GLP-1 medications and clinical support without requiring changes to existing health plans.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — GoodRx has launched its Employer Direct weight loss offering nationwide, providing employers with a new way to help employees access FDA-approved GLP-1 medications while maintaining greater control over healthcare spending. The program is designed to address growing employer demand for alternative benefit models as costs and access challenges surrounding weight-loss therapies continue to rise.

Employer Direct allows organizations to select eligible GLP-1 medications, determine employer contribution levels, and optionally integrate clinical care through GoodRx for Weight Loss. Available medications include Wegovy®, Wegovy HD®, Wegovy® pill, Foundayo™ and Zepbound® KwikPen®. GoodRx is working with Novo on employer pricing and serves as an approved independent program administrator for Lilly Employer Connect.

According to Wendy Barnes, president and CEO of GoodRx, the offering is intended to help employers balance employee demand for GLP-1 therapies with concerns about benefit costs. The model combines manufacturer-sponsored pricing, employer contributions, clinical care options and pharmacy fulfillment into a single platform, creating what the company describes as a more flexible and manageable approach to coverage.

The program is designed to complement existing health plans and can be implemented in as little as 30 days. Employers can customize which medications are covered, choose between fixed-dollar, percentage-based or full-coverage contribution models, and provide access to integrated clinical care services. Employees may also participate using prescriptions from their own healthcare providers.

GoodRx said employer interest in alternative GLP-1 access models has increased as organizations seek ways to support weight management treatments without redesigning traditional pharmacy benefits. The company noted that the offering combines capabilities developed through its Pharma Direct initiative, GoodRx for Weight Loss platform, and nationwide pharmacy network.

Looking ahead, GoodRx plans to expand Employer Direct in January 2027 with the addition of GoodRx Companion, a monthly subscription service that provides access to free and low-cost generic medications and discounts on healthcare services such as dental, vision, lab work and imaging. The company said the enhancement is aimed at helping employers extend healthcare savings to broader segments of their workforces, including part-time and contract employees.

GoodRx said Employer Direct is available immediately to employers, benefits consultants, plan sponsors and third-party administrators seeking new approaches to GLP-1 affordability and access.
