SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — At its 2011 Annual Meeting, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores announced new officers for 2011-2012, two new Executive Committee members and four new Board of Directors members.

NACDS said Monday that Robert Loeffler, chief administrative officer of H.E. Butt Grocery Co., was elected as the association’s new chairman, succeeding Larry Merlo, president and chief executive officer of CVS Caremark Corp.
Meanwhile, Walgreen Co. president and CEO Greg Wasson was elected vice chairman of NACDS, and Robert Narveson, president and CEO of Thrifty White Stores, was elected treasurer of the retail pharmacy trade group.
"I congratulate Bob Loeffler on his election as NACDS chairman of the board," Steve Anderson, president and CEO of NACDS, said in a statement. "During his service as an officer, on the NACDS board, as chairman of the NACDS Political Action Committee, and as an active participant in the NACDS RxIMPACT grassroots advocacy program, Bob has demonstrated his unyielding commitment to pharmacy. We all look forward to working with him in his new role with NACDS in the coming year."
Besides naming new officers for one-year terms, NACDS members also elected two new Executive Committee members: Thrifty White’s Narveson and Michael Kaufmann, chief executive officer, pharmaceutical, of Medicine Shoppe International Inc.
Four new Board of Directors members were also elected: Jose Barra, senior vice president for health care and beauty at Target Corp.; Jerry Cline, senior vice president of retail sales and marketing for Good Neighbor Pharmacy; Lynne Fruth, chairman of Fruth Pharmacy; and Steve Kaczynski, CEO of Navarro Discount Pharmacy.
