MinuteClinic opens new clinics in Pennsylvania

MinuteClinic has opened its first two walk-in medical clinics in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. The CVS Caremark retail health clinic subsidiary said Monday that the clinics are located in CVS/pharmacy stores in Bethlehem and Macungie, Pa.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic has opened its first two walk-in medical clinics in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley.

The CVS Caremark retail health clinic subsidiary said Monday that the clinics are located in CVS/pharmacy stores in Bethlehem and Macungie, Pa.

MinuteClinic launched its first clinics in Pennsylvania in 2007 and now has 24 clinics in CVS drug stores in the Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, Pa., markets.

Overall, plans call for MinuteClinic to open 150 clinics nationwide this year in both new and existing markets.

According to MinuteClinic president Andrew Sussman, the new clinic locations can help address a severe primary care shortage in Pennsylvania that’s expected to get worse over the next decade.

"We believe MinuteClinic can be part of the solution to help broaden access to high-quality, convenient and affordable health care services in the Lehigh Valley and elsewhere in the state," Sussman, who’s also senior vice president and associate chief medical officer at CVS Caremark, said in a statement.
