ARLINGTON, V.a. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) today announced the promotions of Mary Medawar and Andrew Klapmust to vice president positions within the Industry Affairs & Member Relations team, reporting to Senior Vice President Steve Perlowski. “These leadership appointments reflect NACDS’ unwavering focus on member-driven progress and the advancement of chain pharmacy,” according to the announcement.

Mary Medawar, now Vice President of Exhibit Programs & Services, has been a driving force for innovation and member engagement during her distinguished tenure. Joining NACDS in 2001, Medawar’s vision and resolve have driven the development of digital resources, including the NACDS Market Exchange and AI chatbots for events, tools that have transformed how members connect, collaborate, and discover new opportunities.

Andrew Klapmust, promoted to Vice President, Membership, has been a pillar of member relations, helping define the member experience since joining NACDS in 2005. Drawing on his expertise in hospitality, marketing, and data management, Klapmust has driven best-in-class onboarding, data integrity, and reporting processes. His commitment to personalized member engagement and strategic support ensures that NACDS members are equipped to navigate a dynamic and evolving industry.

Medawar and Klapmust collaborate to lead the Meet the Market program at the NACDS Total Store Expo, which has consistently empowered exhibitors and chain members to forge meaningful business partnerships.

“The promotions are more than acknowledgments of individual excellence — they are investments in the strength and future of our association and our industry,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson. “Mary’s innovative leadership in event programming has opened new doors for collaboration and growth, while Andrew’s relentless dedication to member service has helped to build and advance NACDS’ brand as a member-driven association.”

These promotions come at a crucial moment for NACDS and the industry. As the pace of change speeds up, Medawar and Klapmust are ready to advance NACDS’s strategic priorities — ensuring the association stays a strong force for innovation, advocacy, and results. Their expanded roles will help lead the way as the association shapes the future of pharmacy and healthcare.

Anderson continued, “We’re proud to recognize Mary and Andrew for their extraordinary contributions. Their leadership, expertise, and commitment to our members and exhibitors are exactly what propel NACDS — and our industry — forward.”
