MIAMI — Dr. Humberto Martinez, a veteran pharmacist at Navarro Discount Pharmacy, has been named president of the Florida Pharmacy Association (FPA).

The South Florida drug store chain said Thursday that Martinez, a member of the FPA since 1991, has served as the regional representative on the executive committee and was a member of the Public Affairs Council, Speaker of the House of Delegates and a member of the Professional Affairs Council and Organizational Affairs Council.
He also is a former chair of the Interamerican Pharmacists Association and spent several years in leadership with the Dade County Pharmacy Association.
"Dr. Martinez has made numerous contributions to Florida’s pharmaceutical industry over the years," stated Steve Kaczynski, chief executive officer of the 28-store pharmacy chain. "As a locally owned company, we are especially proud of his achievements and his individual efforts to promote best practices within the pharmacy profession."
A seasoned executive with over 33 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Martinez has been a pharmacist with Navarro since 2007, the company said. He is licensed as a technical specialist in pharmacy from the Florida Department of Health and certified as a first responder for the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
