LONGUEUIL, Quebec — The board of The Jean Coutu Group has elected Annie Thabet as a director.
The Canadian drug store operator said Thursday that Thabet was elected at the company’s shareholder meeting on July 6. The 28-year business veteran is a partner at Celtis Capital, a firm specializing in transactional services that she co-founded in 2003.
"We are very proud to welcome Mrs. Thabet to our board," chairman Jean Coutu said in a statement. "Her vision, business management approach and values closely match those of The Jean Coutu Group, and her contribution will be positive for the organization going forward."
In late April, Peter Simons, president of Quebec department store retailer La Maison Simons, announced that he was leaving Jean Coutu’s board after four years of service.
Jean Coutu Group operates a network of 376 franchised stores in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario under the banners of PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique, PJC Santé and PJC Santé Beauté.
