PLAINSBORO, N.J. — Novo Nordisk today launched its first-ever big game commercial to introduce U.S. consumers to the once-daily Wegovy® pill, positioning the oral GLP-1 therapy as a new option for adults managing obesity or overweight with related medical conditions.
The spot anchors the company’s new “A New Way to Wegovy®” campaign and uses humor to reshape conversations about weight management, challenging the idea that medication is “the easy way out.” The ad features familiar faces including Kenan Thompson, DJ Khaled, Danielle Brooks, Ana Gasteyer, John C. Reilly, and Danny Trejo.
According to the company, the Wegovy pill is the first and only FDA-approved oral GLP-1 for weight loss in the U.S., taken once daily with diet and exercise. Novo Nordisk said the big game debut was meant to “cut through clutter” and spark broader, consumer-driven conversations about obesity as a chronic disease with biological roots.
Wegovy pills are now widely available through more than 70,000 U.S. pharmacies, including major chains like CVS and Costco, as well as select telehealth providers and NovoCare Pharmacy. Novo Nordisk also emphasized self-pay and savings programs designed to expand access, noting that over 55 million Americans now have coverage for FDA-approved obesity medications.
The FDA approved Wegovy pill based on results from the OASIS 4 phase 3 trial, which showed significantly greater average weight loss versus placebo when combined with reduced calories and increased physical activity.
Novo Nordisk said additional campaign elements will be rolled out after the big game, continuing efforts to normalize discussions about medical treatment for obesity and weight-related health risks.
