BOULDER, Colo. — Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy Inc. has brought its Natural Beauty Bar services, launched a year ago, to another five locations.

Pharmaca said Thursday that it now offers the Natural Beauty Bar in its Brentwood, Menlo Park, Novato and Oakland, Calif., stores and in its Portland, Ore., store.

Along with spa services, the bar features natural facial care and cosmetics from brands such as jane iredale, Dr. Hauschka, evanhealy and Suki.

Designed to enhance the drug chain’s identity as a destination for natural beauty care, the Natural Beauty Bar made its debut last July at Pharmaca’s store in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The bar provides a menu of spa services, including waxing, threading, and makeup and lash applications, along with the retailer’s collection of natural facial care and cosmetics from brands such as jane iredale, Dr. Hauschka, evanhealy and Suki.

At the new Natural Beauty Bar locations, Pharmaca plans to hold an exclusive shopping event on Aug. 8 to give customers at those stores a first glance at the new services. The event will offer half-price brow waxes as well as free 10-minute chair massages, healthy snacks and extra Feel Better Rewards points.

"The Natural Beauty Bars are a logical extension of our practitioners’ talents and expertise and a way to offer our customers a more convenient, comprehensive beauty experience," Tiana Ukleja, health and beauty category manager at Pharmaca, said in a statement.

Services currently offered at the Natural Beauty Bar include waxing for brows, lip, chin, forehead, sideburns or full face; eye makeup application and consultation; full makeover and consultation; and lash application. Customers also can stop in anytime at Pharmaca for free aesthetician consultations on skin care or color matching with the retailer’s natural cosmetics brands.

The chain added that customers who spend $100 on cosmetics or facial care products at Pharmaca receive a complimentary mini-makeover at the Natural Beauty Bar. And under a frequent-buyer program for members of Pharmaca’s Feel Better Rewards loyalty program, for every five brow shaping services customers buy, they receive a sixth free.

According to Ukleja, the Natural Beauty Bar came about in response to rising customer demand for waxing and cosmetic services using salon-quality skin care and makeup. "These are services that women used to have to go elsewhere for," she stated. "We hope that they’ll take advantage of being able to pick up their favorite beauty products and get a brow wax, all in one spot."

Overall, Pharmaca operates 24 pharmacies in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington, along with an online store pharmaca.com.
