LAKE MARY, Fla. — Publix Super Markets Inc. plans to implement a subset of VUCA Health’s MedsOnCue medication video library to improve education and medication adherence for specialty pharmacy patients.
MedsOnCue videos are accessed by a link in an email or a text message.
Through the partnership, Publix Specialty Pharmacy customers will have access to a library of prescription-specific videos that deliver information on top-prescribed medications, including proper use, correct dosage, expected benefits and potential side effects.
Available in English and Spanish, the videos will be available to customers who use Publix Specialty Pharmacy to fill their prescriptions.
“At Publix, we understand that patient-centered care and innovative communication techniques are vital to improving medication adherence and care outcomes,” Maria Brous, media and community relations director at Publix, said in a statement. “The implementation of this service enables us to positively impact the accessibility of health information offered to our customers and cultivate healthier communities.”
According to VUCA, many patients discard drug information leaflets after leaving the pharmacy, leaving them wondering where to turn when they have questions on their prescription. MedsOnCue addresses this problem by providing patients access to a user-friendly platform containing on-demand, prescription-specific videos based on their individual medication profiles.
Patients access the MedsOnCue video library through a mobile device by clicking on a link in an email or a text message, or by scanning a QR code printed on prescription labels and patient information sheets. In addition, the service offers one-click access to pharmacies, medication reminders and health care resources to hep ensure patients understand how to take their medications properly.
“We strive to empower patients by advancing health care technology and providing a streamlined medication educational tool that promotes safe and proper medication administration,” stated VUCA Health chief executive officer David Medvedeff. “Publix Specialty Pharmacy’s dedication to the well-being of its customers matches our own, and this partnership further demonstrates our joint goals: to ensure patients receive the care they need, when they need it.”
Overall, Publix operates 1,131 supermarkets in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina, including about 1,000 in-store pharmacies.
