Rexall supports Alberta flood relief effort

Rexall Pharma Plus is donating $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Floods Fund to support the relief and recovery effort in the wake of the province’s devastating flooding last month.

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Rexall Pharma Plus is donating $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Floods Fund to support the relief and recovery effort in the wake of the province’s devastating flooding last month.

"Many of our employees in Alberta have been greatly affected by the recent flooding and we are proud of their unwavering spirit and resolve," Paul Chidley, divisional vice president of western Canada for Rexall. "Rexall Pharma Plus is dedicated to the communities it serves, and even more so as Albertans recover in the coming weeks and months."

In June, heavy rainfall in southern and central Alberta led to flooding that has been called the worst in the province’s history. The rising water levels, which resulted in several drowning deaths, forced the government to place many communities under evacuation orders.

Reports said that more than 100,000 people have been displaced across the region, and Canadian troops were deployed to assist in flooded areas.

"Our thoughts are with all those affected by the recent flooding in Alberta," stated Frank Scorpiniti, chief executive officer of Rexall Pharma Plus, which has 426 drug stores across Canada. "I am moved by the strength and resilience demonstrated by the people of Alberta. By donating to the Canadian Red Cross, we hope to support them in this difficult time."
