CAMP HILL, Pa. — Susan Henderson has been named as senior vice president and chief communications officer at Rite Aid Corp.
The drug store chain said Monday that Henderson succeeds Karen Rugen, who retired from the company last month.
Henderson brings more than 25 years of experience as a communications executive to Rite Aid. In her new post, she will oversee all aspects of corporate communications, including media relations, financial communications, issues management, associate and supplier communications and the company’s charitable giving efforts. She reports to president and chief executive officer John Standley.
Most recently, Henderson served as a consultant for Gagen MacDonald, a Chicago-based strategy execution and employee engagement firm, according to Rite Aid. Before that, she was vice president of communications for Harley-Davidson Inc. She also has served as vice president of corporate communications at Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., vice president of public relations at Kohl’s Department Stores and director of marketing communications at Miller Brewing Co.
"Susan is a seasoned communications and public affairs professional who brings extensive consumer products and retail experience to Rite Aid," Standley said in a statement. "She is a proven leader in her own discipline and will be a valuable asset to us as an integral member of the management team focused on delivering long-term sustainable growth for our company."
