CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. is now enabling members of its wellness+ customer rewards program to chat online with a pharmacist.

The drug store chain said Tuesday that the online chat, available toll-free on a 24×7 basis, is accessed through each wellness+ member’s account at www.riteaid.com by logging in with their user name and password.

The login takes members directly to their personal wellness+ page, where they can click on the Ask A Pharmacist "Chat Live Now" button and be sent directly to a chat screen with a pharmacist. Members also can talk to a pharmacist 24×7 by calling toll-free at (800) RITE-AID. They will be asked for their wellness+ card number and then connected to a pharmacist.

Rite Aid said its pharmacists are available to counsel wellness+ members on issues such as which over-the-counter medications can be taken with prescription drugs to avoid interactions or side effects, and what foods or drinks also may interfere with a drug’s effectiveness.

Pharmacists also can give advice on general health questions such as how to control high blood pressure or lower cholesterol and how to tell the difference between a cold and the flu, as well as explain ways to help manage diabetes and deal with insomnia and answer questions about vaccinations, the retailer said.
