TORONTO — Shoppers Drug Mart Corp. is voluntarily recalling Balea Kids Hair Putty, part of its exclusive Balea skin and hair care line, as a precautionary measure because of a potential microbial contamination.
The Canadian drug store chain said late Thursday that the manufacturer has reported a potential contamination of burkholderia cepacia in one lot of the product.
According to the retailer, no incidents of illness related to the product have been reported. Customers are being asked to immediately discontinue use of Balea Kids Hair Putty (150 mL, product number 057800741640, lot code C117) and to return it to their local Shoppers Drug Mart or Pharmaprix store for a refund. Only that product lot is subject to the recall, the chain noted.
Shoppers Drug Mart launched the Balea line in the fall of 2009, saying the brand offers a combination of high quality and affordability. The exclusive collection includes shampoos and conditioners, skin care, soaps, shaving products, deodorants, lip care, hair fixatives and children’s items.
