MINNEAPOLIS — Target Corp. is now offering a range of flu vaccines on a walk-in basis at all of its pharmacy and retail health clinic locations.
The discount chain said Thursday that Target Pharmacy and Target Clinic have begun providing Fluzone Quadrivalent, Trivalent and High-Dose flu shots, with the FluMist nasal spray vaccine slated to become available later this month.
Target added that all vaccines, administered by pharmacists or nurse practitioners, are also available in preservative-free options.
"At Target, we know that prevention is key when it comes to keeping families healthy during the cold and flu season," Target medical director Kevin Ronneberg said in a statement. "We’re pleased to provide a variety of vaccine products to meet the needs of all our guests, including traditional shots as well as the nasal spray."
Flu vaccinations are included in Target’s Pharmacy Rewards program. Customers who enroll in Pharmacy Rewards and fill five eligible prescriptions at Target Pharmacy earn 5% off a day of shopping at Target. The retailer also noted that customers coming in for flu immunizations can pick up other products for the cold and flu season, such as antibacterial hand sanitizers, tissues and chicken noodle soup.
Overall, Target has 1,925 stores (1,795 in the United States and 130 in Canada) and about 1,665 in-store pharmacies. Target Clinics are located in Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
