Bartell Drugs gets set for Health and Beauty Event

This weekend Bartell Drugs will kick off its Health and Beauty Event, where it will serve up a range of health and beauty aids samples and services to attendees at select stores.

SEATTLE — This weekend Bartell Drugs will kick off its Health and Beauty Event, where it will serve up a range of health and beauty aids samples and services to attendees at select stores.

The Seattle-area drug chain said activities at the event, which runs March 10 to 23, will include health clinics, free beauty "mini makeover" demonstrations, and hair styling tips from Conair, along with product samplings ranging from cosmetics to supplements.

Health events will also include mobile digital mammography screenings at nine Bartell stores, starting on March 10. The pharmacy retailer said it has teamed up with EvergreenHealth to provide the screenings to support the early detection of breast cancer. Using the same digital mammography equipment as at EvergreenHealth’s Breast Health
Center, the mobile unit includes a private changing room and analysis by board-certified
breast radiologists. On-site Evergreen staff will accept Medicare and most insurance plans.

At 12 stores, Bartell offer health clinic testing and screenings at no charge or at discounted fees. Services include blood glucose testing, glucose meter exchange and education, cholesterol testing, bone density screenings for osteoporosis, blood pressure testing for hypertension, among others.

Digestive health and irritable bowel syndrome will be the focus of information and product sampling with representatives of Seattle-based Heather’s Tummy Care.

On the beauty care side, cosmeticians at 30 Bartell stores will give mini makeovers as they demonstrate the latest products from Almay, CoverGirl, Neutrogena, NYX and Revlon. The retailer said the makeovers will focus on the latest colors and products for spring.

Meanwhile, Conair will host hair styling demonstrations that spotlight the latest hair care
tools and tips. In addition, customers will be able to learn about and sample new products from Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic.

And at five stores, Bartell will showcase the EveryMove online rewards program, which encourages customers to pursue healthy lifestyles. Those signing up at one of the events will get an EveryMove card with extra bonus points. The 58-store chain began offering the rewards program last fall.
