GREENVILLE, S.C. — Bi-Lo has rolled out a revamped prescription discount program that gives customers more $4 generic drugs and more benefits.
The Southeast food and drug retailer said Wednesday that the Rx program, which runs through its Bi-Lo BonusCard loyalty program, offers more than 450 generic medications at $4 for a 30-day supply and $10 for a 90-day supply, along with discounts on brand-name drugs and other generics.
Also available via the prescription program are a list of free antibiotics; free blood pressure medications, including Lisinopril (2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg and 40 mg); and free diabetes medications, including metformin (500 mg, 850 mg and 1,000 mg immediate-release tablets).
"Not everyone has insurance or health benefits that adequately cover prescriptions," John Fegan, vice president of pharmacy at Bi-Lo, said in a statement. "This program makes it easier for our customers to get the prescriptions they need affordably so they can focus on their health — not on how much it costs."
Other benefits in the program, which requires a $5 annual enrollment fee, include rewards on prescription purchases, a $5 store coupon automatically loaded to customers’ BonusCard, ongoing promotions and specials, and fuelperks! savings on gasoline from points earned with grocery purchases.
Shoppers who already have a BonusCard can enroll in the prescription savings program by bringing their card to the pharmacy counter, Bi-Lo said.
"This expanded program offers significantly deeper services to our customers, provides a wider array of discounted medications and is significantly easier for our customers to use now that it runs directly through our BonusCard," Fegan added.
Bi-Lo is part of BI-LO Holding, the nation’s ninth-largest supermarket chain, which has 687 stores and 493 in-store pharmacies in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
