ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Former President Bill Clinton is slated to deliver the keynote address this fall at the National Community Pharmacists Association’s annual convention.

The 2013 NCPA Annual Convention and Trade Exposition is scheduled for Oct. 12 to 16 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Fla.

The 42nd president, Clinton was the first Democratic president in six decades to be elected twice, NCPA said. His presidential term ran from served from January 1993 to January 2001. After leaving the White House, he founded the William J. Clinton Foundation to improve global health, strengthen economies, promote healthier childhoods and protect the environment.

The foundation’s Clinton Health Access Initiative is helping 4.5 million people living with HIV/AIDS access life-saving drugs, NCPA noted.

"NCPA’s convention offers independent community pharmacists an edge," NCPA President Donnie Calhoun, a pharmacy owner in Anniston, Ala., said in a statement. "Now more than ever, community pharmacies must find a way to differentiate themselves from the competition. The programming and networking at this meeting offer pharmacists the path to stand out in their communities and the path to a successful future."

The theme of this year’s event is "Meet. Learn. Succeed." At the conference, community pharmacy stakeholders can engage in peer-to-peer networking, partake in continuing education sessions and check out the latest health and beauty, pharmacy and other products and services.
