DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreen Co. has appointed Alan London, M.D., as chief medical officer of Take Care Health Systems Consumer Solutions Group.
Walgreens said Wednesday that London will lead Take Care Health’s efforts to build and maintain external doctor and health system relationships for Take Care Clinics. He also will provide strategic direction and leadership for the group’s service expansion, quality, clinical education and training, and collaborative practice agreement functions.
A family physician, London brings more than 30 years of experience in patient care delivery, health care strategy and business development to Take Care Health. He has worked in the managed care contracting and risk management fields and spent extensive time in the hospital and health system setting, serving at the Cleveland Clinic for 12 years.
Most recently, he was president of the London Group International, a provider of health care solutions for health systems, insurers, governments, doctors and the investment community. He is a co-founder of two health care companies: Clinically Home LLC and MX.com.
"We are thrilled to appoint Dr. London as chief medical officer of the Consumer Solutions Group," Jeffrey Kang, senior vice president of pharmacy, health and wellness services and solutions at Walgreens, said in a statement. "We are confident his team-based, collaborative approach to health care and his diverse clinical and business background will prove him a valuable asset to Walgreens and Take Care Health. We look forward to his leadership as we diversify our service offerings, expand connections with managed care providers, and continue to develop affordable and convenient ways of helping patients stay well."
