WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy has expanded on its "Send to Card" option for members of its ExtraCare customer loyalty program.
CVS said Monday that ExtraCare cardholders can now send their quarterly ExtraBucks rewards directly to their ExtraCare cards so they don’t have to carry paper rewards to their local CVS/pharmacy.
The enhanced paperless option builds on the first digital Send to Card option introduced last August, which enabled cardholders to send certain ExtraCare e-mail offers directly to their ExtraCare card. This latest digital feature for ExtraBucks aims to make it more convenient for shoppers who prefer not to print paper rewards, the drug store chain noted.
"CVS/pharmacy has learned how important it is to give our members a choice in how they shop and save with us," Melissa Studzinski, vice president of customer relationship management at CVS/pharmacy, said in a statement. "We are thrilled to offer our digitally minded customers the next phase of the ‘Send to Card’ experience for redeeming their earned ExtraBucks rewards. We will continue to enhance ExtraCare in order to provide all members an even more personalized experience based on their shopping preferences."
To use the latest feature, cardholders — after receiving an e-mail notification when their ExtraBucks rewards have arrived — choose to send their rewards directly to their ExtraCare card for automatic redemption, print them at home, or print them in-store at the beginning of their next shopping trip by scanning their card at the ExtraCare Coupon Center.
CVS added it’s helping shoppers learn about the new feature with the launch of the next wave of its MoneyTrashers campaign, including a user-generated photo contest on the CVS/pharmacy Facebook page. Cardholders can submit photos to show how they prefer to redeem ExtraBucks rewards — "Print It" or "Send It" — and vote for their favorite photos submitted by the community.
Through Jan. 31, 20 winners each week will get a $50 gift card to CVS/pharmacy, and the photo with the most votes will win the grand prize of $2,000 in CVS/pharmacy gift cards.
