CVS Caremark names new CIO

Stephen Gold is slated to join CVS Caremark Corp. early next month as the new chief information officer. CVS Caremark said Wednesday that Gold, previously CIO of business communications technology provider Avaya Inc., is scheduled to start in the post on July 9.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Stephen Gold is slated to join CVS Caremark Corp. early next month as the new chief information officer.

CVS Caremark said Wednesday that Gold, previously CIO of business communications technology provider Avaya Inc., is scheduled to start in the post on July 9.

As CVS Caremark’s CIO, Gold will focus on bringing new and differentiating technology solutions to the retail and pharmacy benefit management (PBM) businesses, the company said.

Gold, 53, brings to CVS Caremark over 30 years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale technology initiatives in the PBM, e-commerce and retail industries. Before his tenure at Avaya, he was the CIO and chief technology officer for e-commerce provider GSI Commerce Inc. and had served more than 12 years in various IT leadership positions with Merck & Co. and Medco Health Solutions Inc.
