CVS Caremark specialty pharmacy accredited by URAC

CVS Caremark Corp. has been awarded specialty pharmacy accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has been awarded specialty pharmacy accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization.

"Specialty pharmacy is a critical component of pharmacy care services offered by CVS Caremark," Alan Lotvin, executive vice president of specialty pharmacy at CVS Caremark, said in a statement Tuesday. "We aspire to provide the highest level of quality services to patients who need specialty medications and this accreditation is testimony to our ability to deliver on this goal."

CVS Caremark Specialty Pharmacy provides drug therapy management and dispensing services for patients requiring treatment with medications for rare, chronic or genetic conditions. Patients receive support and counseling to help them manage their specialty medications to ensure proper and safe medication use and to maximize positive outcomes.

Services also include ongoing disease education and therapy counseling, benefit verification, coordination of care with multiple health care providers, patient education and medication adherence management.
