NEWARK, Del. — Hydration products tailored for users of GLP-1 weight-loss medications are rapidly emerging as a major growth category across wellness, pharmacy and functional beverage channels, according to a new report from Future Market Insights.
The research firm projects the global GLP-1 hydration products market will grow from $1.2 billion in 2026 to about $5.8 billion by 2036, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 17% over the 10-year period.
The report said the category’s rapid expansion is fueled by rising consumer demand for hydration products that support electrolyte balance, digestive comfort and everyday wellness needs associated with GLP-1 therapies. As use of medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound continues to expand, manufacturers are increasingly developing low-sugar, easy-to-consume hydration formats tailored to those consumers.
Future Market Insights noted that hydration is evolving from a niche sports nutrition segment into a broader functional wellness category integrated into daily routines. The report highlighted growing demand for electrolyte drinks, hydration powders, stick packs and ready-to-drink products, with a focus on convenience, portability and digestive tolerance.
Electrolyte drinks currently account for 29% of the market, while electrolyte replenishment products are the largest functional segment at 33%, according to the report. Direct-to-consumer and pharmacy channels are also expanding rapidly as brands seek to connect with consumers managing medication-driven lifestyle changes.
As competition intensifies, manufacturers are increasingly focused on simplified formulations, sugar-free options and clinical-adjacent positioning. The report said companies are investing in protein-hydration blends, micronutrient-enhanced beverages, functional waters and gut-support hydration mixes to differentiate their portfolios.
The study also highlighted supply chain investments to support category growth, including expanded ingredient sourcing, beverage manufacturing capacity and portable packaging solutions. Companies are also strengthening partnerships across retail, wellness and healthcare distribution channels to scale adoption.
Key companies identified in the report include Abbott, Nestlé Health Science, ADM, Liquid I.V., Electrolit and Smoothie King.
North America currently leads the market in commercialization and adoption, while regions including the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and South Korea are helping drive innovation in premium hydration formats and in wellness-focused product design, the report said.
