ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) has announced its lineup of speakers for the 2011 NACDS Annual Meeting.

NACDS said the speakers for this year’s Annual Meeting, which is being held April 30 to May 3 in Scottsdale, Ariz., range from political leaders and policy experts to best-selling authors and culinary connoisseurs.

Those addressing attendees will include J. Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the House of Representatives; Karl Rove, senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush; author, blogger and management professor Gary Hamel; and television host and do-it-yourself expert Sandra Lee.

"NACDS is pleased to have such well-rounded and accomplished speakers at this year’s NACDS Annual Meeting," stated Steve Anderson, president and chief executive officer of the association. "From Capitol Hill and the White House to the London Business School and the Food Network, our presenters will share a multitude of government, management and consumer-related issues and topics truly derived from real-world experience."

Hastert is the longest-serving Republican speaker, holding that role from January 1999 to January 2007, while Rove has been given the moniker "the Architect" for his handling of President Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns, according to NACDS.

Hamel, a visiting professor at the London Business School, is a management expert and has authored best-selling books on that topic and writes an influential and highly trafficked Wall Street Journal blog. Lee, the editor of Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade magazine and the host of two highly rated television programs, has become an influencer for retailers and consumers "looking to turn budget-friendly into beautiful and fabulous," NACDS said.

"Our lineup of influential and informative speakers at the NACDS Annual Meeting speaks to the importance of our industry and the composition of NACDS," Anderson added. "It is a true honor to host these distinguished political and business leaders as this year’s speakers."
