SAN FRANCISCO — Fresh off the launch of the "En Español" version of its website, Navarro Discount Pharmacy is now offering Spanish language capability in its mobile pharmacy application.

Pharmacy technology provider mscripts, which powers Navarro’s smartphone app, said Wednesday that it has added multilingual support for its mobile Rx platform. Pharmacy customers who use the mscripts Application to order, refill and manage their prescriptions can now do so in English or Spanish. They can also get reminders to take their medications.
"Many of our customers speak Spanish at home," Sergio Campos, chief information officer at Navarro, said in a statement. "They are more comfortable using the Navarro Pharmacy Mobile App in their native language. We are thrilled to be able to provide this service to our customers."
Mscripts, which supports the mobile offerings of large pharmacy chains nationwide, said its app platform changes languages on the fly based on the user’s phone language settings.
"It takes more time to read something in a second language, and that delay is frustrating when you are using a technology as nimble as mobile," stated Mark Cullen, chief executive officer of mscripts, which also plans to soon enable app users to be able to send and receive text messages in their language of choice. "Our customers should delight in the speed and convenience of managing their prescriptions, regardless of what language they speak.
"Mscripts is committed to providing ease of use in health care management," Cullen added. "A significant factor in taking medications as prescribed is refilling medication on time and taking it on schedule. The bilingual service allows people to easily stay on top of their prescriptions."
Navarro went live with a Spanish version of its website earlier this month and launched its mobile pharmacy app in April 2011.
Features of the pharmacy app, which links mobile device users to the retailer’s m.navarro.com mobile site, include the ability to interact with the pharmacy 24 hours a day; view and reorder prescriptions; receive prescription reminders via SMS, e-mail, push notifications and mobile calendar integration; and get pickup reminders when prescriptions are ready.
In additon, app users can set up automatic delivery of refill reminders; get dosage reminders; request refills and track prescription refill status by SMS or phone app; access store maps and locators, enabling them to find the nearest Navarro pharmacy on the go; and manage doctor and other key health information.
