MIAMI — Navarro Discount Pharmacy has opened a Continental National Bank of Miami branch in one of its stores, which the retailer said is Florida’s first bank inside a drug store.

The drug chain said Thursday that the in-store branch of Continental National Bank of Miami, the first Cuban-American bank in Miami-Dade County, is located at its West 76 Street store in Hialeah Gardens, Fla.
"We value the opportunity to partner with Continental National Bank, which has an outstanding reputation in the Hispanic community and a successful track record with in-store bank branches," Steve Kaczynski, chief executive officer of Navarro Discount Pharmacy, said in a statement. "The added convenience of having a bank branch inside a drug store greatly enhances the customer’s shopping experience, allows us to be more competitive and attracts new customers to Navarro as well."
Continental’s mini-bank branch in the Hialeah Gardens Navarro store has two teller windows, an ATM and one service desk where customers can interact with bank representatives. Extended hours will be available to customers as an added convenience, according to the retailer.
Navarro, the nation’s largest Hispanic-owned pharmacy chain with 29 locations, said the in-store bank model has been successful in the United States, with most people visiting their bank and their local drug store as often as two times a week.
"The new branch will offer bank services one would expect from a traditional branch, such as retail and lending services, but with the added convenience of being located inside a drug store," commented Guillermo Diaz-Rousselot, president, chief operating officer, director and acting CEO of Continental National Bank of Miami. "We look forward to serving the bank’s existing customers in Hialeah Gardens and assisting new customers as well. I am certain this will be the first of many in-store bank branches at Navarro."
Continental National Bank of Miami is a full-service commercial bank with six branches in Miami, Hialeah and Sweetwater, Fla.
