BOULDER, Colo. — Pharmacists at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy is helping a group of customers with their weight-loss efforts with the launch of its first annual 30-Day Weight Management Challenge.
Pharmaca said Thursday that under the program, 10 participants will receive private consultations with its practitioners, including nutrition and exercise advice, along with a month’s supply of one its three best-selling weight-control supplements.
The pharmacy chain, which has 24 stores in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington, noted that the participants are committed to refining their diets, working out according to their practitioner’s recommendations and taking one of the supplements, which include Natural Factors PGX, Genuine Health Lean+ Extra Strength and Natural Factors Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA).
"These are some of my favorite weight management supplements, products that
our customers and practitioners have seen measurable results with," Don Summerfield, vice president of integrative medicine at Pharmaca, said in a statement. "By providing different supplements to our participants, we’re hoping to show which supplements work best for different body types and lifestyles."
Pharmaca added that the participants already have met with their practitioners for an initial weigh-in and consultation. The consultations will be held weekly and participants will update followers on their progress at pharmaca.com.
The participants range from 27-year-old Caitlyn, who aims to lose 15 to 20 pounds, to 58-year-old Michele, who wants to lose as much as 40 pounds to relieve chronic neck and back pain, Pharmaca said.
"I am not ready to let osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, two total knee replacements and two spinal fusions repress my abilities," stated Teresa, a 59-year-old participant from Boulder, Colo. "Weight loss will lessen the impact on my joints and may even lower my blood pressure. I know this opportunity is just the beginning of a lifestyle change — for the better."
