CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. is offering 10 days of savings via digital postcards on its Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest pages that chronicle the travels of "the Rites," the retailer’s Rite Aid-loving digital family.
The drug chain said Monday that the "On the Road with the Rites" initiative features more than 30 summer product offers.
Each postcard unlocks themed summer deals. Currently, for example, there’s a Rite Aid coupons for $5 off kids’ tents and sleeping bags and another for $2 off tiki torches in celebration of the Rites trip to New York state’s Adirondack mountains.
Rite Aid noted that fans of its Facebook page will recognize the Rites characters — Procrastinating Papa Rite, Deal Digger Mama Rite, Over-the-Top Olivia Rite, Scrooge Sally Rite, and Prepared and Preppy Patrick Rite — from the chain’s "25 Deals of Christmas" promotion in 2011. With the new promotion, the Rites are now on the virtual bulletin board Pinterest to share their family photos and companion deals.
"Like many American families, the Rites are on a mission to have a little fun this summer without spending a lot of money," John Learish, senior vice president of marketing for Rite Aid, said in a statement. "We hope Rite Aid followers across the social media landscape will check back often to see where the Rites head next and to claim a Rites souvenir in the form of three daily deals plus any bonus deals that the Rites find along the way."
The Rites’ two-week virtual road trip will take the family to vacation destinations nationwide, including the museums of Washington, D.C.; New Orleans; the Space Needle in Seattle; and Hershey, Pa.
Rite Aid said the Rites are sending summer savings to anyone who "liked" the retailer’s Facebook page, including over 30 deals of $1 to $10 off common summer items like As Seen on TV products, toys, allergy medications, personal care products, sunscreen, photo products, patio furniture and bug spray.
Visitors to the chain’s Facebook page can also take and share quizzes revealing which Rite they are most like or help unlock bonus deals with enough Facebook "likes."
