MINNETONKA, Minn. — Shop ‘n Save Pharmacy has joined UnitedHealth Group’s Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance.
The Supervalu Inc. supermarket chain and UnitedHealth said Friday that the move will give Shop ‘n Save Pharmacy customers access to the alliance’s community-based Diabetes Control Program, which is based on curriculum that has been clinically proven to help control type 2 diabetes.
Shop ‘n Save Pharmacy is now offering the Diabetes Control Program at 26 locations in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
Through the program, the chain will provide patient education and support from trained pharmacists by appointment to help people with diabetes better control their condition and lower their risk of developing complications such as cardiovascular, kidney and eye disease. In addition, pharmacists in the 26 locations will perform blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure tests for participants and provide them with on-the-spot results, enabling patients to get immediate feedback on their status or progress in managing their diabetes.

Other retail pharmacy chains in the Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance include, Winn-Dixie, Walgreens, Albertsons and Kroger.
