Kathleen Jaeger, president and chief executive officer of the Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA), plans to leave the generic drug industry trade group next month. GPhA chairman Paul Bisaro stated Tuesday that Jaeger’s resignation will be effective June 30.

Walgreen Co. has named Cheryl Pegus as chief medical officer, which the company said is a newly created position. Pegus, 46, comes to Walgreens from SymCare Personalized Health Solutions, where she served as general manager and chief medical officer, the drug store chain said Tuesday.

The Jean Coutu Group posted increases in sales, earnings and operating results for its fiscal 2010 fourth quarter and full year. The Canadian drug store chain said Wednesday that sales for the fourth quarter ended Feb. 27 rose 4.9% year over year to $637 million (Canadian) from $607.2 million.
