Walgreens to carry Televisa products for Hispanic consumers

Walgreen Co. plans to sell health and wellness items from Televisa Consumer Products (TCP) as part of an effort to engage Hispanic customers and gain more insight into the Hispanic community.

HOUSTON — Walgreen Co. plans to sell health and wellness items from Televisa Consumer Products (TCP) as part of an effort to engage Hispanic customers and gain more insight into the Hispanic community.

TCP said Friday that Walgreens will carry a line of over-the-counter medicines and personal care products focused on Hispanic consumers at select drug stores. Offerings include hair care, skin care, cough/cold, pain relief and sleep items.

The company added that Walgreens recently expanded the availability of the products based on their performance in test stores.

"Walgreens stores serve virtually every customer demographic in the country, and this is another way for us to reach the Hispanic customer, in particular at specific locations," Paul Tiberio, divisional vice president of inventory strategy and localization at Walgreens, said in a statement.

Televisa Consumer Products is a joint venture of Grupo Televisa and Genomma Lab Internacional that distributes Genomma Lab products in the United States. Mexico City-based Genomma provides pharmaceutical and personal care items.

"We believe our already proven work to promote and offer our products will help our customers build stronger ties to their Hispanic customers and generate additional sales and organic growth for TCP," stated Maximo Juda, chief executive officer of Televisa Consumer Products USA.
