Wellness+ loyalty plan in spotlight at Rite Aid

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. is starting off the year with a loyalty program promotion and an initiative to support dieters.

Through January 28 the chain’s Resolution Rewards promotion is enabling members of its wellness+ program to get $20 +UP Rewards on their receipts.

And to encourage New Year’s resolution makers to get healthy and lose weight, the retailer is offering free expert advice in printed guides, online resources and face-to-face conversations with pharmacists through the end of the month.

To participate in Resolution Rewards, wellness+ members can look for the red “Buy & $ave” symbol on shelves, in weekly circular advertisements and online. Once members spend $100 on qualifying products, they will receive a $20 +UP Reward on the bottom of their register receipt to be used like cash in stores. Thousands of products, ranging from cosmetics to pet food, count toward the $20 +UP Reward.

In addition to listing participating products, Rite Aid’s circulars help customers spot additional savings such as Resolution Rewards products that also qualify for a buy-one-get-one sale, single check rebate, or matching manufacturer coupons found separately in most newspapers.

It is estimated that 50% of Americans made resolutions this year, with two of the most common being to get healthy and lose weight. Yet consumer polls show that more than 75% don’t make it three months into their weight loss resolutions, and a third don’t last 30 days.

According to Rite Aid, that happens often because dieters declare a goal without creating concrete steps to accomplish it.

To help get customers headed in the right direction, Rite Aid is providing them with a variety of tools, including a 12-page “Weight Management” guide; online resources such as a body mass index calculator and a food label “wizard”; and expert advice from Rite Aid pharmacists.
