JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie has made the generic version of the blood thinner Plavix part of its new prescription savings program.
The Southeast food and drug retailer said Monday that generic Plavix (clopidogrel) is now available for $4 for a 30-day supply and $10 for a 90-day supply through its discount prescription program, launched in mid-July.
"The generic form of Plavix (clopidogrel) just recently released in market, providing customers with initial savings over the brand equivalent," John Fegan, vice president of pharmacy at Winn-Dixie, said in a statement. "This prescription is a highly requested medication from our customers, so we are especially pleased to offer an even deeper discount that allows customers to focus on what is important — their health."
Winn-Dixie’s prescription savings plan is offered via its Reward Card. For an annual enrollment fee of $5, customers with an active Winn-Dixie Reward Card can immediately begin receiving program benefits, including a $5 store coupon that’s automatically loaded onto the card. The program offers $4 30-day and $10 90-day pricing on a list of more than 400 generic drugs plus savings on branded medicines and all other generic medications.
The retailer said customers with or without a Reward Card can sign up for the prescription discount program at the customer service counter of their local store. Winn-Dixie is a subsidiary of BI-LO Holding, with 687 grocery stores and 493 in-store pharmacies in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
