PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has announced a reward for information on armed robberies of 13 pharmacies, mostly chain drug stores, in the Philadelphia area.
ATF reported Thursday that the reward of up to $10,000 involves holdups at eight Rite Aid pharmacies, three CVS/pharmacy stores and two independent pharmacies in the area.
The pharmacy robberies, which occurred between Jan. 8 and Oct. 17, 2012, involved the theft of prescription pills and money, ATF said. Joint investigations are being conducted by ATF, the Philadelphia Police Department, the Abington Township Police Department, and the Borough of Glenolden Police Department.
"Individuals who engage in firearms related violence, like armed robberies, threaten public safety. ATF is committed to investigating and removing violent offenders from our communities," said ATP special agent in charge Sheree Mixell. "We ask the public to provide any information that would aid investigators in identifying and arresting the person(s) responsible for the armed robbery of these pharmacies."
